Depending on the light and viewing angle, shades of green, pink, purple and blue appear across its dark, highly reflective surface.

Carborundum, also known as Silicon Carbide, is a man-made material rather than a naturally occurring crystal. Its unusual structure and brilliant iridescent colouring make each specimen completely unique.
